OUR HISTORY
'Beacy House', as it's known, had its origins in 1985 when some caring local people formed a welfare group. Community member Anne Young took the lead, and organised programs in venues all over the local area. Then in 1992 funding was won for a more permanent site in the Community Centre on Weld Street.

As activities and members grew over the next few years, we looked for a bigger, more permanent home. In 2011, Beacy House moved to our current location in Grubb Street. Here our volunteers and staff continue to build on the efforts of those pioneering locals.

We often look back in gratitude to those from our special community who have given their time, effort and skills to make our House what it is today - and still do.
